António José Ribeiro Saramago was born in Vila Nogueira de Azeitão in 1948, and from a very early age he showed a passion for the world of wine, partly inspired by his father, José Maria Saramago, who worked as a cellar manager at José Maria da Fonseca for 42 years. With more than 200 prizes to his name, many of his wines have received widespread acclaim from both national and international wine press, notably from Jancis Robinson and Robert Parker.
