This Anunciada Velha is a Castelão that’s playfully teasing you with a red fruit compote sweetness, yet it smartly balances this with a subtle hint of black pepper – and a suggestion of dark chocolate, naturally. Crafted using hand-picked grapes in 15kg boxes, winemaker João Nunes championed indigenous yeast fermentation, brilliantly preserving the distinctive character of the Tejo region’s terroir. It’s a robust wine, perfect alongside a hearty grilled beef dish.
