A Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has embarked on a long journey, establishing itself as one of the most innovative wine producers in Portugal. The company began by producing wines from grapes grown in the Palmela region. In the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal began expanding, acquiring properties across the country and creating new paradigms for quality wine production. Regarded as the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is an old property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the Quinta and the famed Palace of Bacalhôa form an artistic monument of great national significance. Today, Quinta da Bacalhôa is owned by the Berardo Foundation, a family estate headed by Comendador José Berardo. On 23 June 1910 it was declared a National Monument. Around Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors find picturesque villages, cellars, and one of Portugal’s most beautiful and imposing landscapes – the Arrábida Natural Park.
