Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has undertaken a long journey, establishing itself as one of the most innovative wine producers in the country. The company’s beginnings were rooted in producing wines from grapes grown in the Palmela region. Throughout the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal began expanding, acquiring estates across the national territory and setting new standards for quality wine production. Considered the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is an old property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the estate and the famed Palácio da Bacalhôa form an artistic monument of great significance to the nation. Today, Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to the Berardo Foundation, a family enterprise headed by Commander José Berardo. It was declared a National Monument on 23 June 1910. Around the estate, visitors encounter picturesque villages, cellar houses, and one of Portugal’s most beautiful and imposing landscapes – the Arrábida Natural Park (illustrative image only).
