Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has followed a long journey, establishing itself as one of Portugal’s most innovative wine producers. The company’s activity began with the production of wines from grapes of the Palmela region. During the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal began its expansion, acquiring properties across the national territory and creating new paradigms for quality wine production. Considered the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is an ancient Royal Portuguese property. Located in Azeitão, the estate and the famous Palácio da Bacalhôa form an artistic monument of great relevance to the country. Currently, Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to the Fundação Berardo, part of the Berardo family whose patriarch is Comendador José Berardo. On 23 June 1910 it was classified as a National Monument. In the area surrounding Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors find picturesque villages, cellars and one of the most beautiful and imposing landscapes in Portugal – the Arrábida Natural Park.
