This Madeira white wine seems to have had a rather spirited chat with a volcano – and the result is remarkable. The colour hints at citrus notes, underpinned by that distinctive, almost ethereal basaltic quality unique to the island’s soils. A bracing acidity dances across the palate, complemented by a delicate toasting from the ageing in wood. Perfect with grilled fish, or perhaps a mature Manchego.
