Maturana is an almost extinct native variety. Also known as Merenzao in Galicia, it was on the brink of disappearance. To help bring it back, the Baron de Ley included this monovarietal in his special homage to the Rioja grapes in his collection of varietals. Stewed fruit and balsamic notes dominate the wine, which is opulent and round.
