This Beyra Pinot Noir from Rui Roboredo is clearly a wine that’s had a serious conversation with the Douro landscape. Hand-picked in Vermiosa, at a lofty 700 metres with schistous soil, the Pinot Noir grapes were treated with minimal fuss, letting native yeasts dictate a full-maceration fermentation in French oak. The result is a complex aroma – think lavender and cistus sweetness, ripe cherry and strawberry fruit, and the subtle oak influence noted by *Revista de Vinhos* (16.5 points). It’s a wine that really deserves to be paired with duck or mushrooms to balance that vibrant acidity.
