At the dawn of the nineteenth century, a new chapter in Portuguese wine unfolded with the launch of a wine that would become an icon, coveted yet deliberately kept out of the spotlight. Its creator, Alexandre de Almeida, blended luxury hospitality with a cellar and a proprietary wine, giving rise to the rare and historic Buçaco wines, crafted at the beautiful Palácio do Bussaco in the hills north of Coimbra. These wines eschew modern trends, boasting an impressive aging potential that allows them to mature gracefully for decades.
