Description

In the early nineteenth century a new, fascinating chapter of Portuguese wine began with the release of a wine that would become an icon, the subject of desire, yet it has always been kept, by its own design, out of the spotlight. Its creator, Alexandre de Almeida, fused the concept of luxury hospitality with a cellar and its own wine, thus producing the rare and historic Buçaco wines, crafted in the beautiful Bussaco Palace, in the hills north of Coimbra. These wines eschew modernism and promise a remarkable ageing potential, remaining in the bottle for decades. (Illustrative image only)
