Description

In the early 19th century, a new and fascinating chapter of Portuguese wine was born with the launch of a wine that would become an icon, a coveted treasure, yet one that has always been deliberately kept out of the spotlight. Its creator, Alexandre de Almeida, brought together the concept of luxury hospitality with a cellar and an own wine, thereby creating the rare and historic Buçaco wines produced in the beautiful Palácio do Bussaco, in the mountains north of Coimbra. These wines have eschewed modernism and boast a tremendous cellaring potential, able to stay in the bottle for decades. (illustrative image only)
