Description

In the early 19th century a new chapter in Portuguese wine history opened with the launch of a wine that would become an icon and a coveted prize, yet it has always been kept—of its own volition—out of the spotlight. Its creator, Alexandre de Almeida, introduced the idea of blending luxury hospitality with a cellar and its own wine, thereby producing the rare and historic Buçaco wines at the beautiful Palace of Bussaco, in the mountains north of Coimbra. These wines eschew modernist trends and offer a tremendous ageing potential, remaining vibrant in the bottle for decades.
