Description

In the early 19th century, a new chapter of Portuguese wine began with the release of a wine that would become an icon—coveted yet deliberately kept out of the spotlight. Its creator, Alexandre de Almeida, blended luxury hospitality with a private cellar and his own wine, producing the rare and historic Buçaco wines at the splendid Palace of Bussaco in the hills north of Coimbra. These wines eschew modern trends and boast a tremendous cellaring potential, remaining drinkable for decades.
