Description

In the early 19th century, one of the most intriguing chapters of Portuguese wine was born with the launch of a wine that would become an icon, coveted, yet deliberately kept out of the spotlight. Its creator, Alexandre de Almeida, brought together the concept of luxury hospitality with a cellar and a proprietary wine, thereby producing the extremely rare and historic Buçaco wines, crafted in the beautiful Palácio do Bussaco, in the mountains north of Coimbra. These wines eschewed modernisms and promise a great ageing potential, capable of remaining in the bottle for decades. (illustrative image)
