Description

At the dawn of the 19th century, a new chapter of Portuguese wine was born with the launch of a wine that would become an icon, coveted by many, yet deliberately kept out of the limelight. Created by Alexandre de Almeida, the idea was to blend luxury hotel‑keeping with a private cellar and its own wine, giving rise to the rare and historic Buçaco wines produced in the beautiful Palácio do Bussaco, in the mountains north of Coimbra. These wines have eschewed modernist trends and boast remarkable cellaring potential, staying drinkable for decades.
