In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, a company dedicated to the grain trade. Later, in 1750—already in Vila Nova de Gaia—they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From one generation to the next, they distinguished themselves by the rigor and expertise they devoted to Port, elevating the Burmester name to the highest level of quality and international recognition. Burmester is regarded as a specialist in harvests, with magnificent yields at its disposal that it releases regularly. Yet their Port Vintages remain of excellent quality, shining in the best vintage years. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to honor brands created five centuries ago. The bottling year may not correspond to the image shown.
