In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, dedicated to the grain trade. Later, in 1750—already in Vila Nova de Gaia—they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation they have stood out for the rigor and expertise they devoted to Port, raising the Burmester name to the highest level of quality and international recognition. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was still owned by Amorim until it was acquired by the Sogevinus group, the current owners. Burmester can be considered a specialist in vintages, with magnificent harvests at its disposal that it releases regularly. Even so, its Vintage Ports are of excellent quality, shining in great vintage years. The bottling year may not match the image presented (illustrative only).
