In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, devoted to the grain trade. Later, in 1750—already in Vila Nova de Gaia—they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation, they distinguished themselves by the rigor and knowledge devoted to Port, raising the Burmester name to the pinnacle of quality and international acclaim. Burmester can be seen as a harvest specialist, with magnificent yields at their disposal that they release regularly. Yet their Vintage Ports are of excellent quality, showcasing their splendor in the great vintages. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to immortalise brands created five centuries ago.
