In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, initially focused on the grain trade. By 1750—now in Vila Nova de Gaia—they had begun exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. Generations of the family distinguished themselves through the rigor and expertise they applied to Port, elevating the Burmester name to the highest levels of quality and international acclaim. Burmester is renowned for its exceptional harvests, which it releases regularly. Even its Vintage Ports are of superb quality, shining in the best vintages. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to preserve brands created five centuries ago. The bottling year may not match the image shown.
