In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, dedicated to the grain trade. Later, in 1750, already in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation, they distinguished themselves by the rigor and expertise they devoted to Port, raising the Burmester name to the highest level of quality and international recognition. Burmester can be regarded as a specialist in vintages, boasting magnificent harvests that it releases regularly. Yet its Vintage Ports remain of excellent quality, showcasing their splendor in exceptional years. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to preserve brands created five centuries ago. (illustrative image)
