In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, dedicated to the grain trade. Later, in 1750, already in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation they stood out for the rigor and knowledge they devoted to Port, raising the Burmester name to the highest level of quality and international recognition. Burmester can be seen as a specialist in harvests, boasting magnificent crops at its disposal and regularly launching new vintages. Their Vintage Ports are still of excellent quality, shining in outstanding vintage years. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to immortalise brands created five centuries ago.
