In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, dedicated to the trade of cereals. Later, in 1750, already in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation they distinguished themselves by the rigor and expertise devoted to Port wine, elevating the Burmester name to the highest level of quality and international recognition. Burmester can be considered a specialist in harvests, with magnificent harvests at its disposal that it releases regularly. Even so, its Vintage Ports are of excellent quality, showcasing their splendour in great vintages. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to immortalise brands created five centuries ago.
