Caballo Loco Apalta is a Chilean Grand Cru, made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère grapes grown in the Apalta area of the Colchagua Valley. The region enjoys a warm climate that encourages the production of wines with soft tannins and great aromatic potential. Consequently, this wine presents itself as charismatic and perfumed, blending the characteristic traits of its grape varieties. Valdivieso’s history dates back to 1879, when Don Alberto Valdivieso founded Champagne Valdivieso, becoming the first producer of sparkling wines in Chile and South America. Since then, Viña Valdivieso has become a category leader in domestic and South American markets, recently extending its reach to Europe and Asia. A century after its founding, Valdivieso began producing still wines in the Curicó Valley. Today, with two production centres—one dedicated to all sparkling wines and the other to still wines—it is recognised worldwide, enhancing the appreciation of Chilean wine. Caballo Loco was the first Chilean wine brand that, in 1994, launched a single red wine that blends multiple vintages, inspired by the energetic personality of its founder, Jorge Coderch.
