Originating from the plains of the Tagus, this wine is produced at Quinta São João Batista, where proximity to the Tagus River and the quality of the soil contribute to the creation of excellent wines. The Quinta’s history is shrouded in tales of noble successions, donations to religious orders, and other events. It was purchased in 1987 by Caves Dom Teodósio, now part of the Enoport Wines Group, and since then the estate has undergone a major restructuring of its vineyards and the construction of a modern winemaking centre. Located in the Paul do Boquilobo Biosphere Reserve, recognized by UNESCO since 1981 as a World Biosphere Reserve, Quinta São João Batista is steeped in centuries of history, marked by a colonial-style manor house and an architectural ensemble that includes superb wine‑cellars, covering a total area of about 145 hectares, of which 130 are planted with vines.
