Originating from the plains of the Tagus, this wine is born at Quinta São João Batista, and its proximity to the Tagus River and the quality of the soil contribute to the production of excellent wines. The origin of Quinta S. João Batista is lost among stories of noble successions, donations to religious orders, and other events. It was acquired in 1987 by Caves Dom Teodósio, now part of the Enoport Wines Group, and since then the estate underwent a major restructuring of the vineyards and the construction of a modern winemaking center. Located in the Paul do Boquilobo Biosphere Reserve, recognized by UNESCO since 1981 as a World Biosphere Reserve, Quinta S. João Batista is steeped in centuries of history, represented by the colonial-style manor house and an architectural ensemble of excellent wine storage caves, spanning a total area of about 145 hectares, of which 130 are cultivated with vines.
