The grapes for this wine come from a terroir with an Atlantic-influenced climate, sheltered by the Serras do Caramulo and Buçaco, with vines planted at a high density (5555 vines per hectare) on gentle hills of clay‑limestone soils in the famous limestone patch of the Bairrada region. It displays a ruby color with an opaque centre, and aromas of black fruit, cedar, leather and graphite. This is a full‑bodied wine, with firm tannins that still have a polished edge. A vibrant acidity persists throughout the tasting, finishing long and mineral. It is ready to drink now, but will evolve beautifully over time in the bottle. Excellent with roasted meats or fish, goat, rosbif and aged meats. Located in the heart of São Lourenço do Bairro, the Colinas de São Lourenço project emerged as an initiative led by Sílvio Cerveira, respected businessman and former mayor of Anadia. Its purpose is twofold: to create wines of excellence and to contribute to the region’s renaissance. The cellar, built in 2002 on family land, is a modern testament to this vision. The Sociedade Agrícola Colinas de São Lourenço was founded in 2001, marking the start of a journey dedicated to producing superior quality wines. The original 8 hectares of vineyard, belonging to the family estate, were revitalised and expanded to dozens of additional hectares, meticulously replanted. Within a 4 km radius, covering a total of 80 hectares, the vineyard flourishes, embracing the landscape with a verdant tapestry. The red varieties, such as Baga and Touriga Nacional, form the core of production, accompanied by a rich diversity of national and international varieties. Among them stand out Aragonês, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Barroca, Jaen, Bastardo, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Among the white varieties, the elegant Chardonnay takes the lead, while the traditional Arinto and Bical of the region complement the repertoire, giving it a distinct local identity.
