To pursue his passion for wine and the Douro region, where he grew up, José Carlos Monteiro Pinto set up a company dedicated to producing the “nectar of the gods” in 1998. At the time he was 30 and dreamed of owning a project of his own. Today that dream is a reality: the company bears his name, manages 22 hectares of vines, and aims to sell 300 000 bottles this year. “Only with a great passion for wine, for what it represents, combined with a tremendous capacity for sacrifice and dedication, can one be successful in this field,” reveals José Carlos Monteiro Pinto.
