With more than 1,100 hectares of land and a 200‑year‑old agricultural and winemaking tradition, this estate—held by the Cruz Sobral family since 1775—is distinguished. A pioneer in technological innovation in Ribatejo, the property, located just a few kilometres from Almeirim, has recently undergone a new renovation of its 1817 cellar (the region’s first steam‑powered one), a commitment to the quality that has always defined its production. On the left bank of the Tagus River, the vineyards now covering 140 hectares and averaging 30 years in age benefit from a sandy‑clay terroir, mainly composed of typical Portuguese varieties: Fernão Pires, Castelão, Trincadeira and Touriga Nacional. Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Alicante Bouschet were the foreign varieties recently introduced, completing the vineyard area. (Illustrative image only)
