With vineyards in the Upper Douro around Almendra, Casa Agrícola Roboredo Madeira (CARM) has been involved in local viticulture since the late 19th century. The oldest plot dates back to 1966, and since then new traditional grape varieties have been reintroduced under a biological production system. After the winery was built in 2004, the wines produced reflect a passion for the land and respect for nature, capturing the aromas and flavors of earth, slate, esparto grass, flowers, and wild fruit. With a new approach, the wines are now vegan, incorporating ethical and sustainable principles. (Illustrative image only)
