With quintas in the Superior Douro around Almendra, Casa Agrícola Roboredo Madeira (CARM) has been linked to viticulture in the region since the late 19th century. Today the oldest vineyard dates back to 1966, and since then new traditional varieties have been introduced and converted to organic production. Since building the cellar in 2004, the wines produced reflect a passion for the land and respect for nature, with aromas and flavours of earth, slate, stone, flowers and wild fruit. With a new approach, vegan wines have emerged, incorporating ethical and sustainable principles. (Illustrative image)
