This Carvalhais is a beautifully perplexing wine. Sogrape, as you’d expect, meticulously separated the grapes – Alfroucheiro, Aragonez and Touriga Nacional – for a pure casta-based fermentation, maintaining a precise 27°C. Forty percent of French oak added a touch of elegance, while the remainder rested in stainless steel, aiming for that fresh fruit character. It’s a wine that seems remarkably age-worthy (at least 10 years!), though perhaps requiring a little patience to fully unlock its potential. Ideal for pairing with game meats, or for those who appreciate a Dão wine that whispers stories.
