The bottles of the older wines may show traces of dust and damaged labels, as expected for their age. Garrafeira Nacional is obliged to store all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always chooses to preserve the visual appearance that reflects their age. We select brands/regions that, by default, reveal distinct characteristics in tastings of old wines. However, we inform that wine is a living organism that, when exposed to time, still evolves even while sealed in a bottle; aromas are subject to different changes. Thus, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the product’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let the wine aerate beforehand, which helps release its natural aromas after many years of closure. If you choose to decant the wine before serving, be patient to detect the sediment that, as is typical for an old wine, tends to form. (Illustrative image)
