All the vineyards that comprise the CASA de MOURAZ are cultivated organically, without herbicides or synthetic agrochemicals, and have been ECOCERT certified since 1996. Soil fertilisation is based on plant seed beds and organic fertilisers. Treatments rely on the use of copper, sulphur, seaweed, clay, plant teas and other natural products. The defining principle of biodynamic farming is respect for the soil, the plants, humans, life—in all its diversity and physical, chemical, and above all ecological integrity. A less‑manipulated soil produces a wine that is more authentic, the ultimate expression of terroir, the place, and the vineyard where it was grown. In late 2006 work also began on biodynamics, with the aim of taking this quest for harmony between soil, plants, animals, and humans even further.
