This Touriga Nacional from Casa Ermelinda Freitas is a real journey into the heart of Setúbal – and not a gentle one, to be sure. The intense red fruit, with notes of plum and cherry, hints at a demanding terroir, perhaps a bit tough on the grapes, yet rewards with remarkable concentration. The result is a wine of significant structure, boasting prominent tannins that’ll pair beautifully with a hearty beef roast, particularly a good *assado de vaca sonora*. Recognised with a silver medal at the International Wine Challenge, it demands a little patience to fully unfold, but the payoff is a genuinely authentic flavour experience.
