Casa Santos Lima, based in the municipality of Alenquer, was founded in 1991 to continue the family’s viticultural activity that began in the late 19th century by Joaquim Santos Lima, who at that time was one of the largest producers and exporters of Portuguese wines. In 1996 the company began bottling its wines, until then sold in bulk. Today, with over 200 hectares of vineyards, Casa Santos Lima is the region’s leading producer, representing more than 30 % of certified wine from the Lisbon area. With a strong focus on internationalisation, one of the biggest drivers of wine export, the house ships over 90 % of its wines to roughly 40 markets.
