Casa Santos Lima, headquartered in the municipality of Alenquer, was founded in 1991 to carry on the family’s winegrowing activities, which began at the end of the 19th century by Joaquim Santos Lima, then one of Portugal’s largest wine producers and exporters. Bottling of its wines started in 1996, after a period of bulk sales. Today, with more than 200 hectares of vines, Casa Santos Lima is the leading producer in the Lisbon region, representing over 30 % of the region’s certified wine. With a strong emphasis on internationalisation, it is one of the biggest drivers of wine export, shipping more than 90 % of its wines to around 40 markets. (illustrative image only)
