Casa Santos Lima, headquartered in the municipality of Alenquer, was founded in 1991 to continue the family’s wine‑making tradition that began at the turn of the 19th century with Joaquim Santos Lima, then one of Portugal’s largest producers and exporters. Bottling of its wines started in 1996, after which they were sold wholesale. Today, with over 200 hectares of vines, Casa Santos Lima is the region’s leading producer, accounting for more than 30 % of Lisbon’s certified wine. With a strong focus on internationalisation, it exports over 90 % of its portfolio to roughly 40 markets.
