Casa Santos Lima, based in the municipality of Alenquer, was founded in 1991 to carry on the wine‑making activity of the Santos Lima family, which began at the turn of the 19th/20th century by Joaquim Santos Lima, then one of Portugal’s largest wine producers and exporters. Bottling of its wines started in 1996, and until now the wines have been sold in bulk. Today, with more than 200 hectares of vineyards, Casa Santos Lima is the leading producer in the Lisbon region, accounting for over 30 % of the region’s certified wine production. With a strong focus on internationalisation, Casa Santos Lima—one of the biggest drivers of wine export—is exporting more than 90 % of the wines it sells to around 40 markets.
