The Casa Santos Lima, headquartered in the municipality of Alenquer, was founded in 1991 to continue the wine‑making activity of the Santos Lima family, which began in the late 19th century by Joaquim Santos Lima, then one of Portugal’s largest wine producers and exporters. In 1996 the bottling of its wines began, and until then the wines had been sold in bulk. Today, with over 200 hectares of vines, Casa Santos Lima is the leading producer in the Lisbon region, accounting for more than 30 % of the region’s certified wine. With a strong focus on internationalisation, Casa Santos Lima is one of the main drivers of wine export, shipping more than 90 % of its wines to about 40 markets. (Illustrative image only)
