The Colares wine is known for its uniqueness worldwide. Its Atlantic‑influenced terroir imparts an exceptional salinity and complex aromas that deepen with bottle ageing. Founded in 1898 by António Bernardino da Silva Chitas in Azenhas do Mar, the estate originally focused on the Lisbon region and large‑scale exports to Brazil. Later, his son António Bernardino da Silva Chitas Junior, and now his grandson António Bernardino Paulo da Silva, have expanded the brand, with sales now spanning both the domestic market and extensive exports to various European countries and the United States.
