The Colares wine is characterised by being unique in the world. Its terroir, strongly influenced by the Atlantic, produces wines with extraordinary salinity and complex aromas that improve with bottle ageing. The house was founded in 1898 by António Bernardino da Silva Chitas in Azenhas do Mar. In the early years, sales focused mainly on the Lisbon region and large‑scale exports to Brazil. It was later led by his son, António Bernardino da Silva Chitas Jr., and today by his grandson António Bernardino Paulo da Silva, whose sales now cover both the domestic market and significant exports to several European countries and the United States.
