This Casal Santa Maria Pinot Noir is a delightful surprise. The colour is vibrant, with a lively sheen hinting at a wine that enjoys a good look – and it certainly delivers. Expect ripe cherry aromas intertwined with earthy notes and a subtle pine whisper, almost as if it’s had a chat with the local trees. On the palate, the red fruit and spice are beautifully restrained, underpinned by firm tannins and a welcome freshness. Rumour has it this wine has ageing potential – a perfectly acceptable excuse to keep a few bottles tucked away! Wonderful with pan-fried mushrooms, duck breast, or a classic beef stroganoff.
