Since 1937 the company Caves do Solar de São Domingos has been producing sparkling wines, aged brandies, bagasse brandy, and wines from Bairrada and Dão. Their galleries house more than two million bottles of sparkling wine, several thousand bottled wines, and hundreds of barrels of French oak for their famed vinic brandies. The “São Domingos” Bagasse Brandy, produced in its own stills, continues to lead the market with its consistent quality. In 2006 a modern winemaking centre was inaugurated, allowing the reception of a thousand tonnes of grapes from the company’s own estates and from growers working in partnership with the firm. Constant innovation in production and winemaking methods has raised the quality and prestige of the house’s wines, reinforcing São Domingos’ competitive edge. Wine tourism is also a winning investment, dazzling thousands of visitors each year with the beauty of the rock‑cut galleries, the millions of bottles, as well as the showroom, hall, and museum with a tasting room—making it an integral part of the Bairrada Route.
