According to its age, the wines may show signs left by time, such as dust traces on the bottles and/or some label damage, common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Wine Cellar commits to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always chooses to maintain the visual appearance inherent to their age. We generally select the marques/regions that usually perform well in old wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas evolve differently. Therefore, the National Wine Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe beforehand, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it may be too aggressive for old wines. (Illustrative image)
