According to its age, wines may show signs left by time, such as dust residues on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels—common in wines that have spent decades in storage. The National Wine Cellar stores all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We generally select brands/regions that normally perform well in old wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas are subject to different evolutions. Thus, the National Wine Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle aerate first, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed.
