House Krug was founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a nonconformist visionary with an uncompromising philosophy. Having understood that the true essence of Champagne lies in pleasure itself, his dream was to craft the best Champagne every year, regardless of the annual variations in climate. By paying close attention to the character of the vineyard, respecting the individuality of each plot as well as that of its wine, he was able to build an extensive library of reserve wines from different years, enabling Joseph Krug to produce Champagne of distinction.
