It is in the oldest wine‑producing sector of the Douro that Montez Champalimaud, blending its centuries‑old heritage with a constant drive for innovation, proudly produces wines of great quality. Breaking with old paradigms, Quinta do Côtto sparked a revolution that encouraged the most enlightened vintners to bottle and sell their Quinta wines directly on the market. In the 1960s the first Quinta wine of the Douro region, Quinta do Côtto, was born; its success led Montez Champalimaud to expand its portfolio, first with Quinta do Côtto Grande Escolha, and later by creating a new brand, Paço de Teixeiró, in the Vinho Verde region. Today, a Quinta wine guarantees that the wine has been carefully produced and selected by the estate owner, ensuring its quality, personality and authenticity—without which no good wine can be a great wine.
