This Château Musar, a veteran of the Bekaa Valley, certainly tells a story – one that might be a little…unstructured. Thankfully, Monsieur Garrafeira Nacional has kept it reasonably respectable. After decades slumbering, you’ll need to coax out those hidden aromas with a generous airing, and perhaps a gentle decant to prevent any lingering sediment. It’s a wine to be savoured with feeling, ideally paired with aged cheeses or cured meats – a perfect companion for a discussion of history and tradition, wouldn't you agree?
