This Cistus, hailing from the Douro, certainly seems to have put in a good effort to impress. Built around Tinta Barroca, Touriga Nacional and Aragonez, Quinta do Vale da Perdiz has clearly invested heavily, aging 50% of the batch in second and third-use oak barrels – a decision that earned them a Silver Medal at the International Wine Challenge in 2014. The result is a deep ruby colour, brimming with aromas of ripe fruit and a hint of vanilla, all presented with a notable balance, as noted by the Saldeira wine magazine. Perfect alongside grilled meats or white meats, served at a cool 18°C to fully unlock its remarkable quality. This wine has already garnered recognition from the International Wine Challenge, achieving awards in 2016 and 2017 – a clear indication that it possesses significant ageing potential.
