The Sanguinhal Agricultural Company was founded in the 1920s by Abel Pereira da Fonseca in the Bombarral region. At that time, he owned the largest chain of retail outlets in the country, using his position to create a company dedicated solely to the production and trade of wines. The company comprises three estates: Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras and Quinta de São Francisco, located in the Lisbon Wine Region, specifically within the Demarcated Region of Óbidos. Here the properties benefit from a micro‑climate shaped by the Montejunto Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, giving the still, fortified and spirits wines a fresh, balanced profile that reveals their unique character.
